(WAUKEGAN, IL) – For Atturo Tire, class is back in session for 2020.
For the third consecutive year, the Chicago-based tire brand is supporting SEMA’s High School Vehicle Build Program, which connects high school automotive shop classes with specialty-equipment manufacturers’ products to build one-of-a-kind customized vehicles. And this year, Atturo is for the first time the exclusive tire partner for the High School Vehicle Build Program, providing Trail Blade Series tires for all 10 vehicles.
“We’re proud to partner again with SEMA this year to help foster and educate the next generation of automotive aftermarket enthusiasts and specialists – this time as the exclusive tire partner,” says Atturo Tire Marketing Manager Joe Gomez. “We’re excited for high school students nationwide to learn more about how Atturo tires can help them Go Their Own Way with first-hand experience at installing tires as part of these aftermarket builds.”
Funded by SEMA, the program offers students real-world, hands-on auto-tech skills and engages them in the accessorizing and customization lifestyle.
For 2020, the high schools involved has doubled from five to 10 with the program focusing on suspension, interior and exterior accessories, and wheels and tires. Using donated aftermarket products from partnering sponsor companies, students customize either a Jeep Wrangler TJ or Toyota 4Runner under the guidance and instruction of their auto-shop instructors. Each school is receiving five Trail Blade BOSS, Trail Blade M/T or Trail Blade X/T tires for their build. These tires are ranging from 285/70R17 Trail Blade X/T up to the LT325/60R20 Trail Blade BOSS!
The Trail Blade BOSS is the most intimidating tire in Atturo’s Trail Blade off-road series. Designed for hardcore off-road drivers, the tire features incorporates a “kurki”-style knife blade as the oversized tread lug to help battle through deep slop by forcing debris from the center of the tread.
The Trail Blade M/T is an off-road performance tire built to treat mud like dirt, offering an affordable, high-quality option that’s a proven performer on the short-course, off-road race track.
The Trail Blade X/T is a brash hybrid multi-terrain tire that cuts into the segment between traditional mud-terrain and all-terrain tires to deliver high performance on the trail as well as the road, making it ideal for adventurers who choose the road less graveled.
After the vehicles are transformed by the SEMA students, they will be sold at the end of the school year. Proceeds from the sale will fund the purchase of another vehicle to support a build for the 2021 school year – making the program a self-sustaining one. SEMA’s vision is that the program ultimately will expand to reach thousands of high school automotive shop class students across the country.
The schools receiving tires from Atturo this year are Career Center High School, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Comstock High School, Kalamazoo, Mich.; John Hersey High School, Arlington Heights, Ill.; McGavock High School, Nashville, Tenn.; Mon Valley Career & Tech Center, Charleroi, Pa.; OPS Career Center, Omaha, Neb.; R.L. Turner High School, Carrollton, Texas; Santa Fe ECO High School, Santa Fe, N.M.; Santa Ynez Valley High school, Santa Ynez, Calif.; and Wichita Falls High School, Wichita, Texas.
